Acceptable use
Why this exists
Customers share a network and, on shared plans, a machine. This is the short list of things that would harm other customers, our network reputation, or us. It forms part of the terms of service.
1. Prohibited outright
These lead to immediate suspension and, where the law requires, a report to the authorities:
- Material that sexually exploits or endangers children.
- Content that incites violence or organises it.
- Malware, ransomware, credential stealers or botnet control panels.
- Phishing pages, fraudulent stores, and sites impersonating a bank, a payment provider or a public body.
- Unauthorised access to or scanning of systems you do not own.
- Denial-of-service attacks from or through our network.
2. Email
Unsolicited bulk email is not permitted, whatever list it came from. You may write to people who asked to hear from you and who can unsubscribe in one click. Purchased or scraped lists are not permitted. Shared plans have an hourly outbound limit; high-volume senders should use a dedicated relay and we will help set one up.
3. Copyright
Do not publish material you do not have the right to use. That includes photos, music, fonts and text taken from other sites. If you send us content to publish, you are confirming you may use it. We act on properly formed copyright complaints and forward them to you first where we lawfully can.
4. Resource use
Shared plans are sized for websites, stores and email. The following belong on a dedicated server instead: sustained heavy processing such as video conversion, cryptocurrency mining (not permitted on any of our services), peer-to-peer clients, public proxies or VPN endpoints, and using the account mainly as file storage rather than to serve a website.
If a process is affecting other customers we throttle it and write to you the same day. We only suspend without warning where a machine is at risk of falling over.
5. How we enforce this
Except where a machine or another customer is at immediate risk, we contact you, give you a reasonable window to fix it, isolate the offending process, and only then suspend. A first-time, good-faith breach that you fix promptly does not lead to termination. Repeated breaches, or anything under section 1, do.
6. Reporting abuse
Send reports to abuse@webninja.com.co with the domain or IP address, timestamps including time zone, and the relevant evidence. We acknowledge within one business day.
